Patricia Kingori Becomes Youngest Women of African Origin to be Awarded Full Professorship at Oxford University.

In 2021, Patricia Kigori was awarded a full professorship at the University of Oxford, England. The 28-year-old British Kenyan Sociologist’s research is focused on misinformation and pseudoscience. She is interested in the experiences of frontline workers around the world. Her award is historic as she is the youngest woman to receive a tenure track since its 925 years of existence.

“It really matters that you work with people who have the same values as you, and who are genuinely interested in creating a good working environment,” she says on Wellcome’s website.

She currently works at the Wellcome Centre for Ethics and Humanities and Ethox Centre, Oxford University as a Senior Investigator and associate professor in sociology and global health ethics.

She was born in Kenya, grew up in Saint Kitts in the Caribbean and relocated to the UK when she was a teenager. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the Royal Holloway, University of London and a PhD from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. Her current Research focuses on frontline workers and their experiences in The Gambia, Cambodia and Uganda.
